We all love technology but we also hide behind it! How long per day do you spend looking at your phone? your computer? Does living in a digital world mean that we have to experience life through a screen? According to Contagious 71% of 18 to 24 year olds in the UK use their tablet or phone while engaged in face-to-face conversations…. Is this how it has to be?
We think not…and if you look around the tech blogs you can see the plethora of new technologies emerging that will help. Many people believe 2013 is the year of the wearable technology.
From connected body worn sensors to heads-up displays, we are increasingly seeing new technologies that will fit in with our lives and allow us to interact with each other and the environment in a much more natural way, rather than demanding our direct attention.
Yes Google Glass has brought this into the popular press but we’ve been seeing increasing numbers of technologies around for a while, across a whole range of different interfaces such as voice, gesture and touch to connect with people in a more human way … for example in 2011 we were demoing a connected sensor based appcessorie at CES.
At CC we are increasingly working with clients to develop connected sensor systems for both sports & fitness, wellness and medical applications. The availability of low cost sensors, and smart mathematics means it is now possible to develop a connected system that understands us and our environments and can deliver actionable information.
This market is going to be big, really big…
